The 2009 UNLV Hustlin' Rebels season will be the --th team to represent the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in college baseball. It will involve the Hustlin' Rebels attempting to improve on their from 2008, in which they finished 22-37 (10-15 MWC), placing sixth in the Mountain West Conference. The Hustlin' Rebels posted a 1-2 record in the conference tournament and were not invited to post season competition. Buddy Gouldsmith will return for his 6th season as the Hustlin' Rebels' skipper.

Preseason[]

On November 3, 2008, Coach Gouldsmith announced that he added Jeff Prieto as an assistant coach who will oversee in fielders, while also working with hitters, base runners and the short game. Prieto will also coach third base, set defenses and develop defensive strategy. Pireto had spent the previous five seasons as the head coach of Clovis East High School in Clovis, California. In 2008, Prieo was named Region 8 Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association and was runner-up for National Coach of the Year.[1]
