1970s[]
- 1976 - Cal Hubbard is inducted into the Major League Hall of Fame as an umpire. This makes him the first pro athlete to be in two hall of fames. Previously, he was inducted Pro Football Hall of Fame.
1980s[]
- 1988 - The first ever night game took place at Wrigley Field. The Chicago Cubs beat the New York Mets; 6-4.
1990s[]
- 1996 - Cal Ripken gets his 2,500th career hit.
- 1999 - Five grand slams are hit in one day for the first time in major league history. Fernando Tatis, Jose Vidro, Mike Lowell, Bernie Williams and Jay Buhner are the five players that did this.
2000s[]
- 2002 - Barry Bonds hit his 600th career home run. This makes him only the fourth player in Major League Baseball to do this.
