William Arthur "Candy" Cummings (October 18, 1848 – May 17, 1924) was an American professional baseball player. He made his debut in 1866 with the Brooklyn Excelsiors and played for a number of teams until 1877. He is thought to have invented the curveball. He has a lifetime pitching record of 145-94. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1939.
