Casey Kelly (born October 4, 1989 in Sarasota, Florida) is an American minor league baseball player in the Boston Red Sox organization. He was a first round draft choice, 30th overall, in the 2008 MLB Draft. Kelly is considered a major league prospect at both the pitcher and shortstop positions. Kelly was also considered to be a football prospect, though he turned down a full scholarship to play quarterback for the University of Tennessee Volunteers in order to pursue a baseball career. Kelly pitched in the 2009 All-Star Futures Game. On December 8, 2009, Kelly announced his decision to continue his career as a full-time pitcher.[1]
