The Cleveland Guardians is the new teams name of the Cleveland franchise in Major League Baseball (MLB). It replaces the Cleveland Indians. The Guardians name took effect at the conclusion of the 2021 MLB season and began being used for the 1st time in the 2022 MLB season.
This new team name is from the statues of the Hope Memorial Bridge in Cleveland. The statues represent the Guardians of Traffic.
