Alphonse Dante Bichette, Jr. (born September 26, 1992 in Orlando, Florida) is an American Minor League Baseball (MiLB) third baseman who was drafted 51 overall in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Yankees. [1]

Early life

Bichette was born in Orlando, Florida in 1992. His father Dante Bichette, is a former Major League Baseball player.

High school

Bichette attended Orangewood Christian High School, where he played baseball. In his sophomore year at Orangewood Christian, Bichette batted .553 followed by a .455 average in his junior year[2]. In his senior year, he batted .640 and compiled 40 runs batted in, 10 home runs, a .723 on base percentage, a 1.198 slugging percentage, 15 stolen base (in 15 attempts), and 7 strikeouts.

Bichette's baseball talents drew the attention of the Georgia Bulldogs , which offered him a baseball scholarship to attend and play for them, which he accepted.

Professional career

Minor Leagues (2011-present)

Bichette debuted in the Minor Leagues as part of the Yankees Gulf Coast League team, the Gulf Coast Yankees on June 20, 2011. Bichette had 67 hits with a .342 AVG playing for the Gulf Coast Yankees.[3]

Bichette was promoted to the Staten Island Yankees where he only played 2 games for them with 1 hit and a .143 AVG.

On March 23, 2012[4], Bichette was assigned to the Charleston RiverDogs. In the 2012 season, Bichette has 19 hits with a .213 AVG.
