Joe Maddon first came up as a bench coach with the Anaheim Angels (now Los Ángeles Angels of Anaheim) and then became manager of the Tampa Bay Rays from 2006 to 2014; in 2008, Maddon led the Rays to their first-ever World Series appearance. He became manager of the Chicago Cubs in 2015, where he led the team to the National League Championship Series and was named Manager of the Year. In 2016, he guided the Cubs to their first World Series championship since 1908.
