Ryan Kalish (born March 28, 1988, in Northridge, California) is an outfielder in Major League Baseball who plays for the Boston Red Sox.

Early baseball careerEdit

Kalish hit .422 in his senior season at Red Bank Catholic High School in New Jersey with a home run and 30 stolen bases. [1] In the summer of 2006, he played for the Middletown Monarchs in the Atlantic Baseball Confederation, a summer collegiate baseball league.[2] He was drafted in the 9th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft by the Boston Red Sox.

Major leaguesEdit

He was promoted from Triple A Pawtucket on July 31, 2010. He played his first game against the Detroit Tigers and got his first hit in his first at bat. Later in the game, Kalish singled to right field to score Adrian Beltre, getting his first major league RBI.[3] On August 2nd, 2010, in a game against the Cleveland Indians, Daniel Nava singled to right field, and Kalish came racing around third to try to score. The throw from Shin-Soo Choo got to the plate before Kalish. He attempted to slide through catcher Carlos Santana's legs, but slid right into his knee. Santana was carted off the field with his left knee in an air cast. He also picked up his first major league assist. [4]
