My name is Ron Cicotte. Eddie Cicotte was my great uncle (my grandfather's brother). The family name is pronounced See-Kot. Contrary to the post Al Cicotte did not change the pronunciation to distance himself from Eddie. While there have been several spellings and various pronunciations of the name Cy-cottie was never one used by the family. For a complete history of the family you can visit my genealogy web site at http://jeanchiquot.cicotte.us/ or http://familytree.cicotte.us/.

The pitcher called himself "Cy-cottie," which was acknowledged by his grand-nephew when the latter pitched for the New York Yankees in the 1950's, who ackowledged that he changed his own name to distance himself from the scandal. The pronounciation "See-cott" was picked up in "Eight Men Out" because of the grand-nephew. This is not subject to dispute. Please leave this alone. Thanks in advance. --ron 18:58, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

This is patently false. The family is well known in Detroit and the name has NEVER, I repeat NEVER been pronounced "Cy-cottie". I find it inconceivable that you would perpetuate the mispronunciation and misinformation after being corrected by a family member.
